Rest Before the Next Climb

National left-over day, the laziest day of the year.

I crashed. We all did. The laundry can wait.

I am grateful for day’s like today. They don’t come around often. When no work is waiting and obligations are forgiven or unasked.

Sometimes on trail, in the mountains, by a lake it’s like that. With no wi-fi. And the sun stretches across the sky, hours of clouds and blue begging for mid-day naps and swims.

A day of rest before the next steep, sweaty climb.
