No Corona in the Mountains

After a few days of long conversations, hard decisions and little sleep, today I crashed.

Last night I was so tired and panicked, I swore that none of us would ever leave our house again. This morning when I woke, I felt better and let Flannery do yardwork at a friend’s — much better than being cooped up.

I know we’re all feeling these emotional swings from fear to panic to determination to hope. There’s litle escape as we figure out how to deal with our new normal for the next few weeks or months — whichever it is.

The human survival cycle is fascinating — shock, worry, fear, panic, despair, hiding …. sleep, cocooning, wisdom, creativity…. hope, rising, waking, determination, action, expectation, grounding — only to restart the cycle with the next bump.

My optimism and tendency to look for the good has kept me endlessly cycling through this loop. Down with the news, up with creativity, down with reality, up with hope.

there was sun today,
snow on the mountains,
big fluffy clouds,
and a cold breeze
calling me to the mountains

tomorrow I must go
to receive their hug
