Grateful on Election Day
What strikes me the most about watching the election results is how evenly split we are in so many areas of the country.
When seen on a map as statistics without emotions and pundits — instead of thinking “division, division, division”, I see Purple. We are one. We are diverse, not divided. I dream of this. I believe it’s possible.
In the end, most of us want the same things. Family, love, inclusion, security, safety, protection, happiness, dreams. I see my friends on social media, friends of all leanings, with their families, kids, grandparents, passions, and causes. Living, loving, grieving, striving, crying, laughing.
This has been a day filled with anxiety for most of the country, me included. I’ve spent the day working. And stepping outside. Breathing. Focusing on love and those I love. Walking with my daughter, chasing my dog, sitting with Gary, hugging my parents.
And mostly feeling grateful.
And ready to continue working towards unity and caring even if just in my small sphere of the world.
To any who read this, I love you. Thank you for making my world better every day.
