Daily Routines. Yay or Nay?
Back in the day, at the beginning of my career, I was an engineering project manager. It translates perfectly into producing and AD’ing — facilitating a set of tasks, scheduling, problem-solving and removing roadblocks so that the experts can do their jobs.
Over the years, I’ve experimented with “project managing myself”. It may work for a few days or weeks, but ultimately I rebel. I can only trick myself for so long.
I’m a sworn hater of routines, and I’ll always take the loop over the out-and-back.
If passengers ask where I’m going, I’ll say, “We already went that way.”
And yet, here I am…
Night after night, I write this blog. Every day, I update the Theatrical-At-Home website.
The blogging has not been what I expected. In the beginning, I anticipated a logical flow of content. This year threw that out the window after the first week.
I still haven’t found the purpose, but maybe I’ll learn that a daily task won’t crush me.
At some point in the future, a higher-impact daily task might be a valuable experiment.
