Busiest Day Since Covid Pivot
It’s been the busiest day since the craziness of March Covid pivots.
Back then, there were weeks of all-nighters and multitudes of skipped meals prepping our online streaming service for the Phoenix, Oregon release.
Today reminds me of that stretch of time which was invigorating, stimulating and challenging. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t want to slip back into it for too long.
I’m prepping a video shoot for tomorrow and four for next week in six different locations around the world. I also have a film festival going live on Theatrical-At-Home at midnight!
All is mostly going ok, just the needs of all projects converged on the same day.
And yeah, there was that one thing… where I found out today that the DP I booked two weeks ago lives across country from the town in which we’re filming. And covid has closed the borders. That added a bit of scrambling to book a new DP for next week — this time in the correct city.
But alas, it is the nature of the job. Planning, problem-solving, planning some more, pivoting, changing, anticipating issues, and trying to get everything done as soon as possible — so there is time for unknown (but sure to happen) troubleshooting.
I’m tired, but I am enjoying the whole process much more than I thought I would after being out of work most of the year.
Looking forward to what the rest of the week and month will bring.
