As if the summer hasn’t heard of covid

Took a break for the weekend and enjoyed time with my cousin who came up from Marin. We went to Crater Lake today and had a picnic on the rim escaping the 100 degree heat of the valleys.

We picked blackberries, tomatoes and zucchinis, baked blackberry cobbler and grilled. It almost felt like a “normal” summer for a few moments.

Little shoots are starting to come up in my (very first) “fall” garden — arugula, spinach, radishes and beets. I dug up blackberry root balls from a large swath we cleared near the creek.

It felt so good to get away from the computer, dig in the dirt and wipe blackberry-stained hands across my brow.

It’s back to the computer on Monday, but we’re devising plans to enjoy these last days of a beautiful summer which glows and beats like it’s never heard of covid.
